Cecilia Costa
She was born in 1971 in Caldas da Rainha, where she graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts. She lives and works in Lisbon, where she makes her first exhibitions in the first decade of the century. Cecilia Costa Melgar is a multifaceted artist: she works not only in photography but in other media such as video, installation and drawing. Her starting point is usually the human figure, questioning the concepts of perception, identity and self-representation.

Some of her solo exhibitions have been: Chatelet les Halles in The Room Poste (2007) or the exhibition Pli - a series of works in photography - exhibited in Oporto, Coimbra and Lisbon in Baginski, Gallery / Project. She also was selected by curator Isabel Carlos to participate in the Sydney Biennial in 2004. Her works are represented in the collections of the PLMJ Foundation, Besart Collection, in the Ilídio Pinho de Cobro Collection and Julião Sarmento and Isabel Collection.
