Oliver Johnson begins to participate in the national exhibition circuit after having received some important recognition, as the first prize for painting Generation 2001, certainly a more than decent trampoline. We might think, at first, that his painting unfolds in the territory of the poetic, in a lyrical abstraction that relies on the vibrations of chromaticism in its very slight gradations. An approach to the work, however, reveals the surprise.

Johnson uses assembled silkscreen to built surfaces, which adquiere a certain pattern and sequentially acquires a plot aspect. It is on these surfaces, cold conceptually, where color appears to give the composition of tonal gradations of great interest, creating the appearance of a world of textures, and a feeling of pleasant warmth.
