Roberto Coromina
Roberto Coromina (Zaragoza, 1965) lives and works in Madrid. He graduated in Fine Arts from the School Sant Jordi in Barcelona in 1989. He furthered his studies with different scholarships such as Erasmus Scholarship at the Winchester School of Art in Britain or the grant of the Generalitat of Catalonia with which he moves to New York. He lives in New York from 1994-1998. In 1998 he is awarded the Casa de Velázquez Scholarship by the Diputacion Provincial, Zaragoza. He returns to New York in 2003 with a grant from the Marcelino Botín Foundation, for the ISCP program (International Studio Curatorial Program) and in 2006 for a residence in the Triangle Artists' Workshop.

Roberto Coromina’s work deals with issues as the history of art and painting. His interest is to question painting, its imagery, perception, presence and absence; in short its reason for being. It uses different techniques and media, sometimes more faithful to tradition, others creating objects and occupying space. Coromina's intention is to reflect on the canas itself. All his series in recent years has developed revolving around the idea of deconstruction. Whether it's painting, sculpture or installation: that's not important.'To assemble and disassemble Painting, remove its acquired sediments and seek new approaches, not forgetting the viewer to be positioned to close the circle....'
