Belonging to the latest generation of Levantine painters who during the 90s decided for a figuration next to surrealism, with works full of various contents. The work of Joel Mestre (Castellón de la Plana, 1966), is a criticism of the media, art history and culture of the mass media today. His work is in appearance surrealistic landscapes, constructed of acid colors, recreating scenes disturbing adventures through geometric and architectural structures. In these works, we find debs to De Chirico and Savinio.

He has exhibited in numerous national and international galleries, and centers like the Museum of Contemporary Art in Santo Domingo or the Development Center of Visual Arts in Havana. His work is in the collections of the IVAM, Joan Miró Foundation, Endesa Foundation, Caja Madrid, Teruel Museum and Bank of Spain among others.
